Alcobaça lies in a green landscaped valley. With
the monastery or abbey of Santa Maria de Alcobaça as world heritage. The
Cistercian Order founded it in 1153 and it grew along the valleys of the rivers
Alcoa and Baça.
Batalha, the white houses are centered around the
Monastery of Batalha.
Leiria, overlooking the city of Leiria, its castle, conquered from the moors
by D. Afonso Henriques in 1135, was the stage of many Portuguese History
marking points.
Fátima, the so-called altar of the world. The
Basilica and the Chapel of the Apparitions marking the place the Apparitions of
Our Lady of the Rosary's to the three little shepherds, in 1917, dominate the
sanctuary. Every year, thousands of pilgrims come to Fátima, "the city of Peace".

Coimbra
university town, the fourth largest city of Portugal, stairs wise build at the
banks of the river Mondego. The monastery of Santa Cruz, the national Museum Machado de
Castro and the Bibliotheca Velha make, next to the famous university quarters,
a visit worth your while. It will sit you back to ancient times with, ancient
traditions and costumes of the students.
Nazaré, with its enchanting beaches and steep
climbing to Sitio is a picturesque seaside village. With the old town on a
hilltop to be reach by funicular, the beautiful church and fortification
overlooking the ocean. The traditional costumes worn by the fishermen and
women, the fishes dried and sold on the beach and also the numerous restaurants
makes this town enjoyable al year around.
Caldas da Rainha, which means spa of the
queen, is a thermal city with a large number of monumental buildings, an
academy for pottery, a daily fruit and vegetable market - not to be missed- and
a wonderful park with numerous trees and a little lake with small boats. A
lively city.
Óbidos, once the wedding present of a queen, a preserved,
walled medieval town. When strolling along the maze of narrow cobbled streets,
at each step, one comes vestiges of different civilization. A city with a lot of festivities all through
the year, with the medieval festival in the summer outstanding.
Peniche is known for its long windy beaches, sought for
recreational activities and sports as surf, windsurf or kitesurf. Peniche has
very good waves. Supertubos is the most popular wave in the region, with very
fast and powerful (tubular) waves, one of the best in Europe, some
call it the "European Pipeline". Peniche, with its typical harbour,
its white windmills and chapels and large sand beaches has inspired notorious
painter artists as Maurice Boitel. A ferry boat to the islands Berlengas with
its atractive caves and underwater sealiveis not to be missed.
Santarem stands on a plateau, on the right bank of the Rio
Tejo. Her it is were narrow cobbled stoned streets alternate with squares
filled with history.
Lisbon, a fascinating city with a mixture of old and new cultures,
architecture and traditions. The old city quarters, were time seems to have
stand still, a wide variety of cultural heritage, spectacular squares with
lovely terraces, alternated by majestic buildings. The ancient yellow and red
trams and the funiculars witch connect the downtown with the uptown; bring you
wonderful dishes and the Fado.
